had an exhausting lecture for my urban planning/geog class. probably the most intense one i have had so far. it kinda hard to crank up e engine of thinking, speaking n reacting like a geographer after such a long hiatus.

geographers are such long winded creatures, who think too much haha. like one of the articles that i had to read, at page 7, the author was still explaining what she intended to prove in her article. at page 7. no wonder the article was 23 pages long. BUT it was a good article, despite the long-winded sentences, cheem terminology that made me read and re-read and re-read the same sentence over and over again, and the mind-boggling, stereotypes-challenging concepts.

i guess today's lecture did help me understand the different groups of geographers in a better perspective (positivists, structuralists, humanists, post-structuralists, feminists... sigh haha) than i ever could back in jc. always found it pretty much a pain to have to continually argue from all their screwed-up, one-sided point of view. but there is a greater appreciation of it, cos maybe at this level, there is more time to explore the applications of these theories and views. not that i didn't enjoy my jc geog lessons, but there is so much more depth covered here than ever before (and i'm drowing in the depth of it bah.)

perhaps the only reason why i write is to train my geog essay writing skills, in the rambling way that isn't supposed to come across as rambling but as intellectual writing. to trail all over and yet cover nothing at all just to prove a simple point. yea, maybe that's why i write. cos after not writing in a year, the words don't flow and the expressions become awkward.

i dunno why others write. i dun really care. especially if it's basically cos u juz want to act philosophical n intellectual while broadcasting yr views to everyone who cares to read. and i can definitely say that it's what many pple do, under the disguise of 'trying it out'. there's always that thrill that u have control over yr audience, without the jitters n problems of public speaking, and of cos, u have full control over yr material. and if anybody else disagrees... well, too bad for him.

ok. now to settle down with a good book of calvin and hobbes for half an hour, then it's back to studying before my lecture at 4.30.

btw, skittles and choc milk does make a nice combi =)
