i know what u mean uncle ced (bah it's like nobody calls anybody uncle or auntie here haha except for direct relatives i guess...) but is US really rich? look at the deficit in their economy. as it is, they haf been running in the red for so many years.
the fact is, US wasn't prepared for this. should haf been. were warned. never heeded it. a bit like 9-11. Even though FEMA now is in charge, there's still so much complains abt it. too little, too late. but i mean it's not juz about military aid or monetary gifts, but look at some of the European countries for example. Sending experts in disaster management, helping to set up communications network. i mean, there IS more ways than one to help. granted, US is far away. but considering that New Orleans basically battled with the issue ALONE for 3 days... that's a bit stretching it isn't it?
i do understand the difficulties in helping out, just that... when u are here and u read the papers and stuff and then u read the singapore papers and how they try to play up wat a big role we are... i mean, i'm not looking down on what the rsaf has done. it prob was a great big help during that period, but i can't really stand the myopic sheltered view that our papers tend to portray.
sigh. anyway i'm NOT criticizing the singapore government. better protect my ass considering the recent story abt the bloggers who got sued. in some ways, i think i rather much prefer our culture of dependence on the government. keeps pple in line n makes management so much easier. of cos it does help tt we are a small country. i'll like to think that if something bad did happen to singapore, hopefully we would be a bit more prepared than here to handle it.
enough for the day. gotta run. lecture in 20 min. it's e SUPER BORING CHINA-LECTURER WHO MUMBLES TO HIMSELF and puts me to sleep. doesn't help tt it's after lunch -groan-
oh and i took a nice dip in the lake two days ago. at 11.45pm. yupz :) not a dip. a dive into a freezing lake doesn't constitute a dip haha but it was fun. how often do u do that in Singapore.
and when i go back for Christmas and someone suggests going out to east coast park and BIKING i'll murder the person haha. i'm doing all e biking i want already. not that i dun enjoy it. but. yes. i think i've made my pt =)
lessons urgh. atmosphere and environment. it could haf been interesting. now juz seems intensely boring. hopefully e exams will be easy (this one is all MCQ). then again, it's only a 2 credit course. that's why. SIGH. haha.
gotta do a city profile on a metropolitan city outside of US that has more than 5 million pple. any suggestions? thinking of somewhere asia, cos seems like a lot of pple doing europe and australia. dun want tokyo though. cos metropolitan tokyo is different from tokyo tokyo, complicates matters a bit in terms of research of size and pop and stuff like that.. yupz :)
i miss u too ser. i think it's worse for me. i won't be going for any SU camps for e next 3 years. and by then, dunno where it'll be =( bah i'll go URA and tell them to let SU keep e campsite! haha i wish.
gotta run!
