you know what i need? i need a fall break. seriously.
in that sense, i'm looking forward to thanksgiving. but between now and thanksgiving, stands numerous obstacles. and to get to thanksgiving, I have to meet all my deadlines. so maybe i'm not looking forward to thanksgiving any more. bleh.
anyway it's a gorgeous 18 degrees out today. u know u've acclimatised a little when that temp makes u perspire. but it's one of those rare times left i guess. i mean, it's 2 weeks to halloween and temps are still almost hitting 20.
does. that. mean. i. don't. have. to. shiver. in. the. cold. for. that. weekend? yayyyy.
i'm spending way too much time in the comp lab. again. i'm in there when no one else is yet, and i leave long after everyone is gone. as much as i love science hall and the lab, i think i need to get out a little. there's like no windows in that place.. just computers, computers and computers. and of cos, printers that don't work - thank goodness the lab tech guys were in today and got it to spit out my assignment.
hmm so in addition to my repertoire of experiences related to Madison, I can now add 'cave of the mounds', 'mount horeb' and 'barack obama' to it. Saw obama live cos i went for the rally that he held yesterday. (yeah, skipped my dance class to go for it, but hey, i'm allowed 2 skips, i'm taking tt class for pass-fail and i think 1/4 of my class skipped too. besides, he IS a potential future president. How cool is it to be hearing him speak live? :)
it was pretty awesome I guess... i mean, it's the first political rally i've been to in Madison. Now, if clinton comes around, i'm going for it too. somehow, i seem to know not a single republican candidate. oops.
but yeah, it seems to me that pple like obama appeal to the younger generation, the idealist, the students... pple who still believe that change is possible, that change is needed, that corporations are bad and the people should rise up and speak. but clinton? she comes with legacy, with experience, with networks that obama doesn't have. She appeals to everyone else for the stability involved, for the fatalism given to the structure of the economy, to issues. If you ask me, as much as i prefer obama, it seems like clinton has a better chance of winning the primaries (though not neccesarily the elections). obama crosses boundaries, the racial divide, the socio-economic (supposedly), the republican-democratic divide. but so? at the end of the day, it's not the hopeful that wins. it's the jaded, 'experienced' one.
but enough abt american politics. not even like i get to vote. but i'll be eligible to vote in singapore soon. except that... there prob won't be an election worth bothering about. not that i can -not- vote, since it is compulsory (and u can get jailed for skipping or sth like tt). but yeah. it's not half the excitement tt u get here haha.
these two weeks are, and will be, crazy =( sigh. hoping to get out unscathed, but oh well. everything's in His hands, not mine. just need to actively remember that when i feel like slamming the computer out of the window, or my head into the screen... (or my prof's, for tt matter)
