i realise that the one thing that really does get me writing is still ultimately, the weather in wisconsin. nothing makes me wax lyrical as much as this subject. and in that note, here is today's weather update.
it's been miserably cold the last couple of days, and waking up has been an awful chore, what with the heaters not turned on yet and the freezing cold of the room compared to the comforting warmth of my blanket.
thankfully, today's getting warm. doesn't feel like it in my apartment - takes forever to warm up despite the windows being opened. but it's a warm day. 22 degrees now even as i speak (write), and will continue to get warmer this week... (29 tomorrow! YAY!) i need it. i need the warmth now, simply as a memory to chase away the impending gloom and cold of the coming winter months.
that said, today's an autumn day. cold, crisp air that's refreshing to the lungs and face. slightly overcast sky with wind that sweeps the leaves into swirls of mini-cyclones. the feel of cool temperatures with low humidity on the skin. definitely a classic autumn day.
yet, just as abruptly, the next day might just be summer once more. lazy summer days, with the azure blue sky as a backdrop. warmth that penetrates thru to the bones. wonderful light breezes that play with the hair and caress the cheek. amazing times sitting on library mall/bascom hill eating and studying while people-watching. dogs running out with their owners, pple throwing balls and playing frisbee... ahhh lazy summer days.
hopefully, tomorrow's gonna be one of them. there's a kind of cheer and exuberance in the air that people cherish so much, simply because there are so few days like that.
and that is the beauty of seasons - treasuring each day of each season, knowing that change soon sweeps through. and despite the gloom of deep winter, i know i will enjoy each and every day (even if it's almost... perverse to be cherishing days that you are chilled to the bones) of winter too, as much as spring, summer and fall.
i'm gonna miss it here.
