my highlight of the day was supposed to be walking in the rain and eating a great home cooked meal with friends to celebrate Royston's birthday. And i was going to complain about how taking two different GIS classes in two different departments under two different professors still give the same result - professors who just plain cannot teach at all. two professors who cannot explain anything, who cannot speak english properly (they can, just one with a thick german accent and the other with a thick chinese accent) and two classes that i'm completely lost in.

but. the highlight (not a good one though) of the day has to be the news that there is an armed man running around campus. ok so basically they believe that he is in the west side of campus, which is pretty far from me. and that he's suicidal and only a threat to himself but not to everyone else. security is up definitely, pple are warned about staying at home (which i am completely heeding) and certain buildings were locked down for a while. the guy is still out there somewhere, and police are pretty much on e hunt.

it's hard to imagine sth like this happening. especially in madison, one of the safest cities in the US. u hear it happen in virginia tech, in delaware but you never expect it here. in madison. where i am.

of cos things are different. this guy is suicidal and just wants to be killed by police. he made 3 calls to the police pretending to be other pple reporting tt he had fired shots and planted a bomb, all of which was fake. and he probably doesn't even have a gun. he -claims- he is armed, but so far, there is no evidence to prove it (or e contrary). certainly different from the others. but. it's still pretty scary.

u know e most perverse weird thing? we were all hoping tt lessons tmr would be called off for this haha. unfortunately, the university has issued a statement saying all classes as usual tmr. sigh 8am class. here i come. again. oh well.

my sch never cancels class. unless faced by a stupid blizzard, which they only cancel class at 4pm after majority of classes were over. (and might i add, most of the blizzard so i HAD to walk to class in a blizzard).

and of cos when the stupid snow storm thing hit on valentine's day, my sch didn't cancel despite ALL elementary, middle and high schools in e area closing, and other colleges here as well. oh and might i add, uiuc closed for TWO DAYS. and no, we had to trudge obediently to classes in that crazy weather.

grrrrrrrrrrrrr. that said, if there's sch tmr, i seroiusly hope everything will be safe by tonight...
