finally, finally spring is in the air.
finally the snow has all melted and the ice has disappeared. (ok there are still snow piles around, but it's small enough that i can safely ignore them haha)
finally, I get to walk on pavement and gravel and soil and tarmac instead of ice/snow mixes that have bonded to the sidewalks.
finally, I get to go out in just a fleece jacket, sometimes not even bothering to zip it up.
finally, I am back to wearing shoes instead of boots!
finally, no more beanie and gloves.

and finally, spring, oh glorious spring, is in the air!

maybe i'll think about wearing my birks out. oooooh open toed sandals! BWAHAHA. that thought fills me with such.. such... such great joy and excitement. WARMTHWARMTHWARMTHWARMTHWARMTH.

that said, I'm still clinging on to the last vestiges of winter. lake mendota has been frozen over so solidly that people are still ice fishing despite the warm weather (it's 5 degrees out now! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!). the lake isn't melting yet - the ice layer is just way too thick right now.

which of cos, gave me another chance to walk on the lake, with si hui again! for a pretty far distance too. the wonders of winter - you get to see what it really looks like from the lake looking back to shore. and it's an incredible feeling knowing that you're walking on ice =)

it's so good to have si hui back. honestly. it just feels so normal, so right, so... i dunno. seeing her in the house, having her nag at me to wear my jacket, making phonecalls for me, complaining together about how lousy charter is... you know, just having her around doing the usual things that we used to do back in our house together last year. ah. it makes me miss her so. makes me want her to be here still.

and with the three of us tog in my rm - it just makes me so very very very happy. my 2 closest friends all having a good time in my place. at times like this, i have absolutely no qualms about sharing my personal space - it's as much mine as it is theirs.

and in response to my 'don't be stupid' - 'i'm not stupid okaaaay. i got into harvard and stanford'. and 'i don't want to look like an idiot. I got into harvard and stanford' and 'i'm not bai chi. i got into harvard and stanford'.

yes si hui. we've established that you're "smart, busy and yet considerate". HAHA. ah it's so fun to tease you.

and i seriously just want to run my hands all over the macbook. so very tempted to get one myself - but there really doesn't seem to be a valid reason for such wanton splurging other than the fact that it is so very very very chio and so very stable and just...well... you know... an apple. MACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMACMAC.

but for now, i'll stick to my trusty ibm and hope that it'll last till my thesis is over.

spring break starts FRIDAY! woot! excited for the trip - the journey to the south: WISCONSIN-INDIANA-KENTUCKY-TENNESSEE- ARKANSAS-TEXAS-OKLAHOMA-MISSOURI-WISCONSIN
talk abt hitting them all man... 7 states bwahahahahahahhahaha.
but of cos, between now and that stands the stupid midterm. which is... -gasp- tmr. right. i think i should get back to the remaining 13 chapters that are still waiting for me to take my first glance at.

it's been an amazing 2 weeks. lots of ups and downs. highs and lows and highs and lows. but si hui's here and that high definitely is a trumping kinda high - it's such a morale booster. honestly, this has just been a surreal time, as though i'm living in a dream that I want to continue in. and yet, when reality finally hits... i'm not sure i'm ready for it. i'm not sure i can take it all. i'm not sure what my choices will be.

but for now till then, i'm just going to indulge in my dream.
