i should be working on my thesis, given that the deadline's drawing so close, and that i'm actually on a roll.
but i just have to let it out. i need to rant a little before i focus back again.
why is it that i simply cannot understand the article? it's written by my prof and a famous geographer from NUS. it talks abt the pathways of global city formation, focussing on the developmental city-state of Singapore.
i've read this article before as a freshman. i've ATTENDED my prof's class, for goodness sake. Yet, 2 years later, when i read the same article and attempt to understand it, i'm STILL FALLING FLAT.
i don't understand it. at all. it's all theory, it's all abstract to me. it's as bad as physics. i understand the words. i understand individual words. i don't get it all strung together. i don't get the concepts. i. just. can't. get. it.
ARGH. frustrated that after so long, i'm not any closer to being a better urban or economic geographer. after 2.5 years of studying, i'm still as bad as it gets. and the theories still escape me.
somebody. break this down into simpler terms for me. or maybe, that can't be done. maybe this is just something too far out of my reach.
yes. now tt it's out, i need to get back to writing the rest of the thesis. seems like it'll never be done, ever. at least while i get snowed in tonight, i'll have this to work on. sigh.
i hope i never have to touch anything related to hyper global cities, emerging global cities or global city-states anymore. =/
