things i could do with a whole lot less off:
1) torrential rains.
i like rain. i love storms. i love it when it's all dark and ominous outside and the black clouds gather and the rains pour down. BUT. i really could do with less of yesterday's type of rain (ok so it's only occurred once, but honestly that's enough!)
so it started storming really really heavily (like seriously, singapore storms are wimpy wimpy) and i had 50 min to run from class to home, grab books, grab lunch, and run to class. it was raining, and obviously i had no umbrella because the sky wasn't THAT ominous when i left for my first class. anyhow, i ran in the rain, which in that 1 min i was running, decided to get waaaaaay heavier. ended up seeking refuge in a sch building, while watching lightning flash every 2-3 seconds and sheets of rain coming down so heavily that i couldn't see more than 2 m in front of me.
after 10 min and frantically praying for the rain to lessen, i decided to be crazily bold and run out again. (of cos the rain was lighter by then) so i did. for like 30 secs before i regretted my decision, because the rain honestly loves getting heavier when i run. so again, refuge under a building which was open on two sides.
oh yeah, did i mention how strong the winds were? yea, so you have a very drenched joanne, soaked to the skin, shivering her ass out next to my friend's car which was parked there. yeah. comfort was so close and yet so far.
anyhow, 5 min later and getting impatient (and seeing pple running barefooted... its amazing how many pple start walking barefooted across ROADS when it rains), i made the final dash home. well, it was a nice cold shower that really woke me up, but i was just laughing to myself about how it was kinda fun... when i open my apartment door to find that the heavy rain found leaks that never existed before. directly above my table. which happens to have my laptop on it. yea.
anyhow, thank God my laptop was fine (as was the paper that i was going to print to hand up in the afternoon).
a 2 min warm shower, a change of clothes, a chewy bar and it's off to the next class. the rain was mostly done by then, so it wasn't too bad. except for the ankle deep puddles ALL OVER. and of cos the building that had my class was flooded with 4 inches of water in the basement, where my class was. and of cos to find out where the class had relocated to, i had to waddle through all that... and of cos everyone was in a total different building all together. man...
so after that, i rushed home to change once more (and shower) and then it was off to class again. thank God that one was uneventful.
anyhow, the rain probably lasted only 2hours max, but in that 2 hours, it managed to cause flash flooding here. no kidding. i saw this car that had floated out from an underground carpark, which by the way, was totally flooded, and the car was half submerged and others were attempting to help those trapped inside get out. the building down the street from mine has apartments in the basement, and everyone had to be evacuated cos it was flooded (they were pumping water out the entire afternoon to 12 midnight yesterday, and continued at 9 this morning) whole cars were practically submerged. and a busy street just a block down from here turned into a river. pple were standing at the steps of their stores looking down at a river flow past them. yeah.. pretty cool eh? i'm just glad i'm on the third floor. (ok, not so glad cos of the leaks, but one table wet is def better than the entire apartment)
so that was the highly eventful flood. which i certainly can do with less off.
2) papers and exams.
don't we all want that? if not for them, i would never want to stop studying. sighhhhh. and waking up at 4am 2 days in a row to finish 2 papers isn't my idea of fun. =/
3) lack of sleep
okay, so this is a double negative. but i'm too lazy to have a section of 'things i want more of' and hey, it's cooler this way haha
4) spider infestations
so 2 days ago, i parked my bike at the lib for 5 hours. and at 9pm, hungry and exhausted, i come out to find 2 large, 2 medium and 4 small spiders happily making their webs on my bike. right. adrenaline rush beats coffee anytime by the way. so i chased one big one off, blew one big and one medium to the floor where i proceeded to stomp on them, and killed the other 4 baby ones with my hands. yeah, i was a little too tired to care. and this is the second time this summer it has happened. no, i really don't appreciate my bike being colonised by spiders in less time than it takes me to finish a paper.
5) verbosity
this is grammatically wrong, but screw it.
anyhow, i use way too many words to bring across a simple point. every paper rubs that in my face, seeing as how i spend so much time, every time, trying to CUT THE NUMBER OF WORDS TO FIT IT INTO THE LIMIT. yeah, it pisses me off to have to chop sections off, and it pisses me off even more when after chopping so much off, it still doesn't fit. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
yeah. now that all that is out, i shall go hibernate and recuperate from an eventful sleepless week. exam on monday. i have all this private property Supreme court cases swimming about in my head and legislations and pple challenging governtment power that i dun even know what is what anymore. and i always hated all this legal stuff. ah well.
