so i'm giving up the chance to go down for citylights at chicago tmr. the chance to see hossan leong. the chance to eat good dim sum. the chance to see 'the bean'. the chance to eat at cheesecake factory. the chance for great singaporean/malaysian food from penang (a restaurant in chinatown).
but i rather give that up for safety. (and of cos, because of prior commitments on sunday).
there's a winter storm heading this way. it has been snowing pretty heavily already, and it's expected to get worse. tmr night's the supposedly dangerous bit. blizzard warning's in effect, with near white-out conditions. quote from weatherbug: this will be a very dangerous situation. if you leave the safety of indoors... you are putting your life at risk.' driving there is going to be dangerous. getting back might be near impossible. and since i can't stay the night... i'll be spending it at home/library/somewhere in madison. i hope everyone is gonna be safe and sound. (and i hope i dont' get snowed in on sunday.)
urgh. just as it was getting all nice and balmy too.
(on a separate note, TONS of snow melt is NOT cool at all. NOT. COOL. it's practically streams and mini rivers being formed on roads and pavements. white shoes don't go with black, yucky snow melt water. not. cool. -growl-)
AND I GOT INTO THE ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK! woot! pretty excited abt that. going to virginia's national tunnel state park. stalagmites and stalactites. trails and camping in a cabin. park maintenance and seasonal projects. how can it get any more cooler? (ok, so if i was actually BACKPACKING and stuff, yeah that would be cooler, but this is pretty darn cool already. besides, it was my top choice.) this is totally appealing to my geog geekiness and my itch for adventure. -beam-
thank God for that one. wasn't confident at all of getting in, since i wrote 2 half-baked essays 3 hours before the dateline. but i'm glad i'm going. it's a great opportunity, esp for a place that i've heard so much from my ex-room mate. ahhh i'm excited. this kinda evens out the loss of not going for citylights :)
next week's gonna be crazy.
and suddenly, i really do hate maps. very much. graphic design + art + geog = ultimate headache for me. sigh. i need some artistic sense, pronto! and i. hate. choosing. every. single. color. for. every. single. thing. and don't even get me started on fonts. -grrrrrrrr-
je ne sais pas.
