my pastor said something today that really struck me. he likened church service to a locker room prep talk. some pple think that church itself is the game, but it's not. it's the prep talk to prepare us for the game, that is our lives outside. and sometimes, we find ourselves playing for the wrong team and listening to the wrong coach. and then we come in during half time, to the locker room and we realise that we were on the wrong team. and the coach offers us a second chance to play for the right team again.

"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does." James 1:22-25

"You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4

interesting analogy. and verses that i tend to brush over and not take heed to.

i like the pep talks i get. a lot. :)
