occupational hazards that i've found out after 4.5 mths:
1) paranoia
you have to think abt the thousand and one ways that the applicant can/will circumvent your rules or try and cheat, and then you have to think of the thousand and one ways to prevent that from happening. paranoia in the extreme!
2) obsession with details
'pls annotate the small-puny-practically invisible structure shown in grids A to Z of Section X-X on the 1st storey plans as well'
'pls spell out every single tiny detail that you can possibly squeeze in, into the title block of your plans'
'pls provide about ten gazillion sectional drawings for our evaluation'
3) the need to strangle these pple
like seriously? if i need to put in 25 conditions, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with your plans. the same goes if i have like 20 items under plan presentation. like COME ON. can you not see your glaring mistakes? and then resubmitting with the clarification of 'noted and will comply in next submission' DOES NOT help your case at all. seriously.
4) the tendency to run away from phone calls
no, i do not want to meet like right now. or tomorrow morning. i'm not at your beck and call and i'm not so free to meet every single time you have some boliao question to ask. and pls pls stop calling every single hour to check on the progress of your case or to find out the answer to your enquiry cos if i can't give u an answer one hour ago, i still won't be able to give you one now. pls leave me and my phone alone.
that said, i think i'm starting to enjoy my job. at least i get to growl at industry experts haha.
and to all my friends in wintry wisconsin (and of cos, my beloved blueberry who's basking in cali sun...), hang in there! it's almost the end of sem, so just a little more! jia you ba!
